Mazak Multi-Tasking Testimonial

Thanks to everyone in the Mazak Corporation for all the assistance and patience in making this project a success we can build on. A few need to named: Ricky Jackson was an outstanding trainer and his comprehensive machine knowledge during startup was impressive and commented on by all, Steve Zunker was a real asset in getting us up and running with the new Matrix control, Ralph Polshak our got the auto-door working so we could begin full production.  We still have some small items to finish but I think the next software revision will take care of those. The meeting we had at TTF 2006 with the team from Florence and Houston helped with the final machine selection. Rick Engles and Rodney Payton from MRI in Tulsa worked with us every step of the way, THANKS!

We now have all five cylinder barrel ends programmed on the machine, with significant reductions in all cycle times. The largest part (4.0’ barrel end), previously had a cycle time of 18.8 minutes and two operations, now we have a complete part in 5.1 minutes.  With the Pratt-Burnerd 2 jaw chuck w\quick change master jaws and the 40 tool magazine, change over to any of the five parts is no longer even a consideration, all tooling staying in the machine. I hope we will be able to decrease the lot sizes even further, running just the number of parts needed.  Now many of the multi-tasking holdouts are beginning to see the advantages of this processing capability. We are now looking other more complex parts that will take full advantage of this machines versatility.
